I SWEAR,

SOMETIMES MY BLACK SISTAHS’

THEY MAKE ME WANNA’ SHOUT!

THEY DO SOME THANGS’ THAT SHOW YOU

WHAT STRONG WOMEN ARE ABOUT.

NOW, I CAN’T KNOCK NO ONE

CAUSE LORD KNOWS

I DONE MESSED UP A FEW TIMES TO SHOW

BUT SOME OF THIS HERE BEAT

I’M ABOUT TO PLAY

WILL SURELY STEP DOWN

ON A FEW LAZY TOES.

NOW I’M   [NOT]  TALKIN’  BOUT’

THOSE BROADS WHO DO NOTHING

YOU KNOW

THE ONES JUST LAYING AROUND

WAITING    FOR YOU

TO GIVE HER SUMPTIN’.

AND I’M  [NOT]  TALKIN’  BOUT’

THOSE WHO HAVE LIL’ BLESSINGS

AND  DROP EM’ OFF

FOR OTHERS TO TAKE CARE

AND WHEN YOU GO LOOKIN’ FOR THE HEIFER

SHE CAN’T BE FOUND NO WHERE

AND I’M  [NOT]  TALKIN’ BOUT’

THE ONES WHO BE CRYING

“I CAN’T MAKE IT ALONE....I NEEDS ME A MAN!”

NO SEE

THEM HEIFERS PISS ME OFF TO A POINT

I WON’T EVER UNDERSTAND

BUT INSTEAD

I’M  TELLING YOU OF

THE   TRUE  BLACK  WOMAN

THE SISTAH’ WHO RULES HER WORLD

TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER FAMILY       AND SELF

HAS PRIDE

YOU   GO   GIRL!

SEE

A  TRUE  BLACK  WOMAN

CAN SEE HOPE FOR DINNER

WHEN HER FAMILY KNOWS

 THEY AIN’T GOT NO MONEY

SHE’LL THROW TOGETHER A MEAL

FROM A LITTLE OF NOTHING OR LESS

IT WILL BE SO GOOD HONEY

IT WILL FILL UP THEIR TUMMIES

AND MAKE EM’ PUT THEIR HANDS TOGETHER

AND SAY      “GOD BLESS!”

A  TRUE  BLACK  WOMAN

HOLDS HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS TOGETHER

THOUGH TIMES CAN GET HARD

SHE CAN MAKE SOMETHING USEFUL

OUT OF THINGS OTHERS DISCARD

A    TRUE  BLACK  WOMAN

CAN WIPE HER CHILDS TEARS

PRESS HER MANS GEAR

WHILE CLEANING HER HOUSE

AND LISTENING TO HER UPSET GIRLFRIEND

WITH A SYMPATHETIC EAR

A   TRUE   BLACK  WOMAN

HAS STRENGTH

NO MATTER  WHAT HER HEIGHT

OR HER SIZE

SHOWS DETERMINATION IN HER WALK

AND  HER TALK

THAT ONLY WEAKLINGS DESPISE

SHE CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING SHE WANTS

SHE PLANS HER NEXT MOVE

ONLY AFTER SOME THOUGHT

SHE KNOWS THAT

HASTE MAKES WASTE

THAT

HER LOVED ONES

DEPEND ON HER

HER WISDOM

HER GRACE

AND THOUGH SHE LOOKS DOWN ON NO ONE

SHE KNOWS

SOME

FOR HER SAKE AND FAMILY

SHE MUST SHUN

FOR PEACE, HAPPINESS, AND PROSPERITY

ARE NOT IN THE HEARTS OF EVERYONE

SHE WILL

DRIVE A MOVING TRUCK

ALONE   IF SHE MUST

TO GET WHERE SHE MUST GO

BIRTH A BABY

AMONGST PERFECT STRANGERS

IF A FRIEND DON’T SHOW

MOVE  HERSELF

TO A FAR AWAY PLACE

IF IT WILL MEAN HER CHILDREN

WILL HAVE MORE SPACE

PROVIDE FOR HER KIDS ALONE

IF HER SO CALLED MAN

DECIDES TO LEAVE HOME

THERE IS

NO WAY

I COULD TELL YOU IN A DAY

ALL

A   TRUE   BLACK   WOMAN

IS  CAPABLE  OF

FOR SHE IS A PILLAR OF CONFIDENCE

RADIATING WITH LOVE

I’M PROUD TO SAY

I KNOW SISTAHS’ THAT ARE THIS WAY

FOR

A   TRUE   BLACK   WOMAN

NEEDS TO STAY STRONG

I THRIVE OFF THAT VIBE

IT HELPS ME ALONG

I SWEAR,

SOMETIMES

MY BLACK SISTAHS’

THEY MAKE ME WANNA’ SHOUT

BUT….

IT’S THE TRUE BLACK WOMAN

THAT   I’M   SHOUTING   ABOUT!

Rachel, you speak 'nuttin' but the truth, and if your soul is as beautiful as your Bio picture - you have 'nuttin' to worry about.
Strong and wonderful women come in all colors. Yours is beautiful.

(((Rachel)))

Welcome to Authorsden; you are among friends!

You tell 'em, gurlfriend; i LOVE it! A powerful, strong, much needed write! Be proud of who you are and where your ancestors come from; I am! (I am white, but I have had many black friends; in fact, growing up, my best friend was black! I saw nothing wrong with her; she was very nice, and it didn't matter that her skin was darker than mine! I still like black people, and I love the black culture; I think it is very interesting!)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
