A Great Man, A Great President

With respects to the Reagan family, a great man has passed, a great President, a day of mourning is upon us, we have lost a man of great stature...

A Great Man, A Great President…

Peace has finally come into the Reagan household,

Ronald Reagan, ex-President of the United States,

Has passed away, gone to the great horse ranch in the sky,

A lover of horses, and of people, Mr. Reagan today did die…

Two terms in office, over fifty movies, played opposite a chimp,

None of those could make Mr. Reagan skip a beat,

Not even an assassination attempt could make this man skimp,

He still fought hard to keep his office, did his job, he was definitely not a wimp…

If this shows I did like this man and yes I did respect him, that is my point,

I have never been much for politics, but this man I would have given my life for,

No president since has earned my respect, I don’t believe, no Clinton, nor Bush for sure,

This nation and the world has lost a great man, a fighter, a family man, a horse person,

                    A PRESIDENT TO REMEMBER!

Lovely tribute. For an actor, he was a very "real" person. In politics, that is very rare. Perhaps his most lasting legacy will be the furthering of research into Alzheimer's Disease. He gave this horrible problem a face - one that is recognized, one that has memories that folks will carry for years to come.

I do believe that President Reagan was a geniunely nice human being full of compassion and human kindness. Wonderful tribute. I've cared for patients with his disease--it's not a fun way to go, especially for the family members. The patient himself eventually becomes a vegetable and doesn't really know a thing, but the family really suffers. Nancy Reagan was a wonderful wife.

Though we disagree entirely on this 'opinion' poem, it's a fine and well-composed tribute... The best part, for me, is being an American and able to exercise my freedom to disagree. I'm 100% with you, though, on the man finally finding peace. I wish his spirit well, of course. katy xox.
