Ocean Sunset

I took off my shoes as I walked barefoot over the soft clayey crab-burrowed sands that oozed mirror footprints until my toes felt the gentle warm touch of the South China Sea.

I swam alone in the ocean with the setting sun's disk as my only beacon. As dusk fell I regained the muddy shoreline, yellow mirror-glow, a vanishing day. Hundreds of bats chased mosquitoes under redwood trees smelling the freshness of Earth.

Wonderful imagery!...but did you really see hundreds of bats? or did you meant bats of different kind? I was lost there for I have never seen hundreds of bats. Okay, I know I'm having a dumb moment this morning.

particular piece. So visual it made me ache for the scene...
