Do you
remember Rahab
or man with withered hand
healed by Master’s daring touch
on Sabbath Day?
Or kind Samaritan
who stopped for stranger
as others went their way?
Have you
forgotten mercy
and grace that will not bend
to rigidity of righteous
rules, demands?
And how to be a friend
to all, enemy of none,
with open hand?
Will you
climb freedom’s ladder
to this new promised land
where even you and I
might find common ground?
Let’s walk on hand in hand
to restoration, healing,
grace, friendship found.
Won’t you
come into Love’s home,
release need to condemn,
harsh words of judgment
fueled by fear of falling.
Open self to begin
to experience grace
and second calling
