Unspoken

Each unspoken word pierces
And shatters this heart of mine
More than any words you could say.
I know there’s words you want to say,
But you refuse to say them in fear of hurting me.
I told you I can take it, to just say it,
But you still refused to say these words.
I wish I could make you say these words
That I feel you so badly need to say.

I cry through the silence, between you and I.
I’ve never told you that, and I don’t think you knew.
I try to get you to speak to me, but its no use,
You always tell me you don’t have anything to say,
So I just take the answer and sit in silence,
Cuz I ’m afraid of pushing you away more.
You say nothing to me,
But you still mean everything to me.
You might think you’re nothing to me,
But you still everything and more to me.

I know you remember me telling you,
“Silence kills,” so you ought to know
That your silence is killing me.
If I could sit there with you,
Would you still be this silent?
Or would you talk to me
And maybe even show me
A little emotion, like a scream or a cry?
I don’t want to feel this empty anymore
And I don’t want to look so cruel,
But it’s what I am, empty and cruel.
