One of the reasons I've not written anything for a while is explained here.

Struggle to awake, but must as nature calls

Yawn, stretch out wide and scratch my balls

Why the latter? Suppose itís because I can

Just one of those things about being a man.

Must have been a one hell of a night

Canít even manage to count to two right

Even my simple math has gone awry

Three spheres I feel, thatís one too high

Better pop down to see the Quack

Need to get this worry off my back

Iím sure heíll say itís a simple cyst

Thatíll evaporate like a morning mist

He agrees but with just a minor doubt

So hospital beckons to check it out

To confirm his professional decision

Iíll need to have just a small incision.

Lying abed in paper gown dressed

Watching the needle slowly pressed

Donít get chance even sleep to fight

Before out, as the proverbial light

That is when my mind had to stop

So I recall nought of the actual op

Coming around some later time

Distinctly feeling none too fine

Eyelids still closed tight, I hear them walk

Stepping up to my bed to begin their talk

Deep voice speaks ďDidnít like what we found

Removed the lot, but now he should be soundĒ

My eyes open wide in instant dread

Voice shaking I implore, ďThe lot you said?Ē

ďWe cut off your left one and the tumour too.

Iím really sorry! Itís all we were able to doĒ

Fortunately the tumour didnít get too far

Iím recovered now, except for the scar

Iím amazed at how I began to feel

As those around me helped me heal

Now when I wake and count up to one

I smile, remembering how it could have gone

Compared with what the Big C can cost

Iím OK! After all itís only one ball Iíve lost

It's a good thing you went to get it checked out - better now than later. And the writing about it sure is cathartic. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Blessings to you,
Tami
