if i was just a singer
a real hum dinger
but i couldn't sing
at all...?

if i was an artist
who couldn't draw it
at all...?

if i was a poet
but i didn't know it
how would i show it?
at all...

who would i be

if i couldn't see

just me.

an old singer
without a song
livin' a life gone wrong.

a painter
with no colors
others than white
good night.

an old poet
who don't know it
or just won't show it
no words to find
ain't that unkind

a singer with no song

a painter without colors

a poet with no rhyme

all of us just livin' in time

halla' of a place to be

a singer
a painter
a poet

an old sainter

an old ain'ter

so a song i'll sing
a canvas i'll paint
a poem i'll bring
a saint i ain't

'cause i just be me

i just write poetry

and i sing
and i paint

but no saint
i be

i just write poetry

Singing is in the ear of the listener and the heart of the crooner. But you sure know how to rhyme!
