A Nation in Battle

I remember well when The United States, and many other troops went to war in Iraq. I remember sitting in front of the television with my husband watching the news. I was concerned, as I am sure many of us were, and I was glued to the events that were unfolding before my very eyes. War is never pretty, nor is it always the answer. However, sometimes war cannot be side stepped, or placed on the back burner. I also cannot believe how our nation was so very divided on this issue. I remember watching the protests from all over the world against this war at a time when our troops needed our support the most.

To me the most important thing about this war were our troops who had placed their lives on the line for freedom from terror, and for our country. I believe that all should have a voice in the way they feel over war, but I also believe there is a right time and a right place for that. While our men and women were in Iraq fighting, I do not believe that was the right time for any of us, no matter how we felt to display our views over national television. Mothers and Fathers had sons and daughters over there, many miles from the safety of home. Our only son was in Iraq for 5 months, and seeing support for our troops at that very crucial time in our lives is what meant the most to me. I was concerned about the safety, and moral of our troops, and nothing more when this war finally broke out.

There is a time, and a season under Heaven for all things. We must trust God in all things if we are to trust Him at all. War is never a good thing, nor is war always the answer, but sometimes war is needed, to an extent to keep Freedom, and peace in the world.
I for one am mostly against war, but that is when it is not the only alternative left. I respect any persons opinion on any issue, but we must also remember to respect our men, and woman who are in the midst of these storms first, and foremost. Sometimes we must put our opinions, and our actions aside for a time, until the right moment comes along to voice them. I would just like to say in closing “Never Forget” and when I say this I am speaking of the 911 attack on our nation, and country. To forget this would be a great dishonor to all who lost their lives during this terrible tragedy.

Our troops deserve this country to be behind them 100% when they are in a time of tribulation, and when they are so far away from family, and safety. They deserve nothing less for laying their lives on the line for all of us to be free. I dedicate this portion of my book to the men, and women of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, and to the many other troops who stood side by side with us in battle. I commend them all for a job well done, and for keeping this nation free from terror. I also dedicate this portion of my book to all the families who have lost a loved one in battle. My heart goes out to the families, and children of these great heroes.

A Nation in Battle

Our Nation is battling with terrorists today
The troops are so many, for their safety I pray
I lift them to you Lord, Now down on my knees
I pray for our President, in many degrees

The Iraqi people have lived life filled with fears
By the hand of a Tyrant, who has caused countless tears
A man who should look out for the safety of his own
Just steps on their dreams, with seeds of evil he’s sown

I trust Lord our nation has done what you’ve willed
For the USA can’t sit by while these people are killed
What good would we be to all families there?
If we stood, and did nothing while they live in despair

I’m an American, a part of the Red, White, and Blue
To my country, and others I vow to always be true
If our President did to our nation, the same as that man
I would hope someone out there would help us fight for our land

Please God lift us up while we fight for the day
Protect us, and lead us in your righteous way
If you find we are not in your will, show us now
Give us peace in our hearts, to know this somehow

But if you find that our nation is so justified
In what we are doing, lift this nation with pride
Over all obstacles, over all bombs, and guns
For the troops that are there, are our daughters, and sons

We hold these truths. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness!
