A poem about obsessive love

I remove each grain

Of dirt from under my short

Finger nails, you thought I was vain

When I said, ‘I am the best

Thing that ever happened to you.’

But you knew I was right.

I wanted to prove my love to you

But you wouldn’t let me.  You said

You were leaving me for someone new.

I thought you were lying, messing with my head.

You said you were serious and I was shocked,

I didn’t know what to do.

So I did the best thing I could think of.

I went downstairs and got a knife.

I was finally going to prove my love for you.

I came back upstairs to see you packing.

You looked at me with a surprised look.

I said I wanted to show how much I love you.

I came closer to you and showered you

With my love as you showered me with yours.

After we finished making love, I carried you

Downstairs and outside.  Now here I stand

Looking at your angelic body in your eternal bed,

‘I was the best thing that ever happened to you,’ like I said.

This poem, "Darla" froze my heart! (I mean it.)

Enjoyed the reading.

You have a unique suspense style. Keep on writing and posting. Let the world see the color of Your quills.

This is brutal! The imagery gave me cold chills, the thoughts will give me nightmares.
Tough write.
