Factory Corpse

Along our river walk

Factory Corpse

Factory Corpse
silent, locked,
uselessly standing between
canal and river.
Unidentifiable doors
suspended from
second story walls,
doors leading into air,
doors without landings.

The factory corpse
spreads out
by the river, a giant weed.

The river calls
to retrieve
the body, to take back
her bank.
An angry collie barks.
Each summer,
her bark more feeble.

Fawns leap
past the corpse
at sunrise.
