October Birthday

The soft summer winds have gone.
Here are some
orange, yellow, red leaves
fallen.
Multiple frosts
will burn their colors away
til they are brown and dry
on the forest floor.

Take these from me
as they crumble
throw them out to the sea
where the sun shines every day
feel the perpetual Pacific
breeze
on your face
for me.

You were born in October;
a balanced sign
while your unbalanced friend
celebrates your birthday
with crushed leaves
and scrapes morning frost
from her car.

Almost masterly. Again even though the last lines make sense in these poems, there is something about them that doesn't jibe for me.
