Some Chance for My Soul?

I’d like to get to know you
            because
I think there may be more to us
than either of us knows.

I’d like the chance to show you
            my soul
and see if you remember me
from sometime long ago.

            But I don’t,
            ’cause I can’t.

You’d like to just avoid me
            because
you think there may be more to us
than either of us knows.

You’d like the chance to show me
            my soul
and say you don’t remember me
from sometime long ago.

            But you can’t,
            so you don’t.

You say much in just a few lines. I like the way you've formatted this poem, and the way you let the focus go from one to the other. I liked this very much.
