A poem about accepting what we no longer have and cherishing what we had yesterday.

Yesterday`s memories dwell in the corners of my mind
Like elusive shadows dancing on the wall
Shadowy memories of childhood yesteryears
Fond remembrances of a precious time gone by
A time of wide-eyed innocence, adventure and wonder
A time where dreams really could come true
Suddenly sadness overcomes me like a thick fog
Misty fingers of reality take over as I accept the truth
Those innocent days are now relegated to the past
But yesterday’s memories will not be forgotten
Tucked away in that shadowy corner of my mind
They remain a unique and special chapter in my book of life
As time goes by it becomes clearer to me
My life is richer, my memories fuller
My heart fills with love
For what I had yesterday
