Me, writing about a day on the farm..imagine that LOL.

Hugs, Trish.

Splintering rays of light finger-walk from the east,
Awakening soundly sleeping man, bird, and beast,
As chattering baby eagles cry from feathered nests,
And bring to life, a new day filled with trying tests.

Down the lane, a small bovine bays loudly to all,
As he is mired belly-deep in mud, after a wee fall,
Yet, he is not hurt; at least, nothing but his pride,
So, he waits patiently for the tractor and his ride.

In the stockyard, the mud-covered hogs roll over,
While in the coral, horses dance happily in clover
And clucking hens recall times around the feeder,
As it becomes obvious, the group has a new leader.

Soaring high over mottled-coloured farm fields,
As the farmerís combine collects the vast yields,
And terrified animals scatter from east to west,
While the hawk swoops and gathers up the best.

Distant shadows glimmer until colours explode
Fixing images, so they will not collapse or erode,
And as the last rays of light linger a minute or two,
Sound ceases, winds die, and black turns from blue.

(((trish)))

excellent imagery brings the farm to life--evoking pleasant (for the most part) memories for those raised on a farm, and making those not so fortunate to have been want to be! LOL well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)

This brings back times I spent as a kid on grandpa's farm. Wish I could be there every day. I do love a good ol' fashioned day on the farm.

Trish, I grew up on a farm, and I have to say it was the best times of my life. Everything seemed so simple then. Well until Vietnam, anyway. Then just like today, our lives turned upside down. But even then, there was a warm heartfelt feeling to life, and the feel of the soil on your hands was worth it all.
Thanks for the memories..

Lisa
