Question all tradition regardless of origin. Why? 'Cause we're not dead, . . . yet!

Note: This posting morph'd from other things I had on my mind this a.m., when I read a friend's note inquiring about a community spokesperson job I applied for at the local university. My reply to "J" was this: "They continue to play the game". I then thought of the television program, "I hate my job" among other unrealistic reality shows who do not paint a true picture, but are only interest'd in popular ratings. And this is when I thought about the holidays. . . decor of Santas, Goblins, and Pine Trees in ???-Marts of the world.

And I asked myself the question, "Why?" Thus, I present to you "mall'd by choice."

dig deep! tiz the holidays. . .
empty out the cookie jar
give the last of our crumbs
to thuggish elves in economic red
strip our own families money-naked
body paint our culture merry green

dig deep, tiz the holi-dAzE. . .
act insane, for a little while
like the elves who see into the future,
credit card company applauds you
pierce your purse in the side

dig deep, tiz the holi-CrAzE. . .
a tarnish'd shovel is your reward
fill each trenches
with crumpl'd receipts,
and by the way, while digging
the financial dirt from beneath
your fingernails,
please don't pick the daisies,
'cause the daisies,
they are free

Slam-DUNK!! As one who hates malls, I was immediately
drawn in. As for Christmas, it is easily the best and
the worst time of the year. All that ho-ho-ho'ing is
hard on the nerves!! Not to mention most of it is
falser than a. . .reality show??!!?? Not to go on {you
know me;)}, but it is a good idea to 'cool' Christmas
some years, in my not-so-humble opinion. One year
my husband and I agreed to "cancel." Our kids were
well-nigh grown & we had never given a lot of gifts
to others, so it wasn't that big a deal. Instead of
buying a lot of iffy presents, we made a donation to
our favorite charity. Not saying we did not celebrate
in other ways, but we said Bah Humbug to Commercial
'Xmas,' and were glad we did. Anywaaaay, you did
a fantastic job of getting across a very important
message. Way to GO~!!! Pea <3
