A re-write

AT SEA

I struggle to tie the strands of my being
into a fixed Reef:
a knot that will hold the coracle of my life
fast
to a semblance of stability;
to safe harbour walls;
to a physical terra firma;
to the Rock and Shelter of my soul...

But my ropes are oiled:
A triple twine of sense, sensuality and spirit
slithers, slides and slips through my fingers,
loosening my grasp on a material world.

* * * * *

This cord cannot tether me
when the flax is greased
by the oils that stream from
my own soul's Essential Essence.

Security for me must be to slip anchor,
cast adrift;
putting my trust instead
in the safety of deep waters.

Articulate, imaginative and powerful. We try to control our own destiny, but it's never up to us anyway. The way you expressed letting go in the last stanza, gave me an enormous feeling of relief.
