On this Thanksgiving Day, I look back, look around, and look forward. This sonnet, #1144 in a series, is a little present for my wife, my greatest blessing, for whom I am most thankful

Transcendental Sonnet #1144:
Schicksalslied

for Silke on Thanksgiving Day 2004

I am metrosexual and monogamous
Have never been am not now and will never be
A cog in the machinery of bourgeoisie
I do not choose to live nor die anonymous
But would make the heads of readers spin with wonder
My pencil as magic wand to put them under
A benevolent spell with no danger of hell

Celibate continent and content I waited
For a lifetime long I struggled and created
Before the advent of the chosen one fated
To share my life to be my wife to be for me
The answer to a lifetime's worth of destiny
I waited for Silke for half a century
Well worth the wait the hand of fate is good to me

God blessed you both for your faithfulness, and may he continue to do so! Superb Sonnet!
