Passing on the past

The past is in the past
I'm glad it doesn't last
some of it was good
we laughed with joy & cheer
some of was bad
it made us cry, it made us sad

I don't want to cherish it
or give it too much care
I just want to let it go
in the past, just leave it there

I do not need to feel
it's grip any longer
but there is no denying
The lessons we've learned
have made us wiser
they've made us stronger

Reminders of pain and loss,
of pain and misery
I do not want to hear
I do not want to see!

For, Tomorrow will bring
it's own supply of grief,
anguish and tears
thank God some painful
memories are only
memorialized once a year!
