This is in response to a disturbing program on the "Maury" show. It was about abusive, controlling men and the women they "loved."

Love won't be looking at the world through blackened eyes.
Love can't hear any more of your pathetic lies.
Love will not have to talk through lips that are swollen.
Love will never have to be hurt by you again.

You killed Love.

Love will not have to wonder if she was to blame.
Love won't be around to hear you call her bad names.
Love will never be a Mommy, or have grandkids.
Love thought that you loved her...she really, really did.

You killed Love.

May Love be a nightmare you can't get away from.
May Love reveal the "man" you thought you had become.
May Love never leave you alone, she deserved more...
May you remember Love as she died on the floor.

You killed Love.

Terrific, Karla! It voices the issue perfectly. The abuser is usually insecure with low self esteem and a temper on top of that. Great write, Karla!

A profoundly written & exceptional poem ... an important message here - thanks for sharing your feelings my friend!!

Sadly, many have 'killed love' because of their need to dominate and control and punish and hurt others.

"Get out before it's too late," is very sage advice, Karla.

Abuse is not love; it is insecurity and control. What is the worst is that one person in the relationship really did enter it with love, and even with the beatings, rarely loses it. The smart ones leave, but somewhere in their hearts they always hope that the one they loved will wake up and become the person they always believed them to be. A very sad and poignant write, Karla. Good job!
Take care,

Abuse is a terrible way of life. Maybe there will be those that read your words Karla and heed them.
A sad but needed write.

Yup, people who use violence, one finds it is the only way they can articulate themselves.

Albeit I've been on the receiving end, as much as I forgive, it still plays mental play again..

Whew, very powerful write, Karla. I felt myself tensing up as I read this..bad memories...but this was something that needed to be said. No man who uses his fists to subdue can possibly know love and any man who can look at the woman whose eyes he's blackened or lips he's split and say "I love you" needs to be shot.

Powerful write. Part of my internship was spent working on domestic violence cases. It is always a horrible situation… and not always the guy.

Any man who does this to a woman they claim they love is NOT a MAN. He is a BEAST and a MONSTER!! I'd love to see them rot in jail or worse! Powerful, heartwrenching write that is so prevelent in today's society; thank you! You may have saved a life today with this emotionally charged, angry write! Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears <

I can't stand abuse towards a woman in any form. Mental or physical. I'd love to see the Rack come back for men of this nature. Or at least a few town hall floggings.

I find this poignant and I saw that program too. Unfortunately we are working with a young woman right now that has an abusive husband. He found out from someone that maybe another man just might have a little lesson for him. Big brother came home and caught him.
