The December rain
sweeps across my cheek. I turn
to face the sudden downpour,
a reminder I am a living thing.

   Most days
   I would not notice,
   would not care
   to know.

A whipping wind
stirs wistful thoughts and feelings
all tethered somehow to the memory of you
and colored an indecipherable hue.

   Most days
   I would not notice,
   would not care
   to know.

Wind and rain,
breath and tears, these are gifts that
multiply, flow through me, spilling over
into smiles of sweet serendipity!
