No one really has the guts to say it, but if we could make better human beings by knowing how to add genes, why shouldn’t we? —-- James Watson, Co-disc..

Love and Despair Spanning Time and Space

Cross't storm-tossed seas she gazed tearfully
Imprisoned lonely ‘pon a barren isle
Her haven of mortal turmoil a stone-hewn tower
What crashing might rumbled fearfully
Rumbling thunderclouds bless waves beyond wild
A night alight with wondrous power

Cross’t the Deep a lonely Hero traversed
Cross't peaks and the treach’rous watery expanse
Hands rock-steady guiding yon ship full-tilt
Despite magical blight and unholy curses
Ill-winds gird Sylphs and Nymphs fatal dance
Mermaids and Sirens sultry voices doth lilt

Wind's howl encircles threatening abandon
O'er broken portals her eyes sought beyond hope
Coming Forth by Dawn's peerless reason
Knowledge and Wisdom Born deride attention
Her sorrow defies form for with Furies she must cope
Tempests threaten nigh despite apparent season

Until a lone ship then appeared
Battered and toss't sails torn crew lost
Captain and Hero reckoned dead through night’s dark
An End to his soujourn embarked o'er a year
Set 'pon the beauty of her heart enamored of frost
With loving warmth beneath emotions so stark

Down cold stone stairs she flit clattering echoes
Wrenching astern Hero navigated shallows
Flinging aside portals skies open wide
Powers observe Divine Law to impose
Human opposition births calumny and woes
Hearts twinned bolster strong towers therein to reside

Dark clouds released lightning 'pon trembling Earth
As Hero and Maiden met betwixt Reality and Dream
Arms wide hearts doth pray for love's sweet release
While eyes dance afire yearning arms cherish mirth
Struck squarely Tower crumbled ashes billowing cold steam
As two become One hearts portion of Love increased.
