"CAN YOU TAKE A WORD?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can you take a word
That is without substance
Breathe life into it
So it sings with vitality?
Can you take a word
That has never known love
Show it some romance
So that it blushes on the page?
Can you take a word
That once was ugly
And modify it
Into something beautiful?
Can you take a word
That never was spoken
And give it power
So its voice is forever heard?
Can you take a word
That once lived in darkness
And bring it to light
So it won't be ashamed again?
Can you take a word
That once started war
Transmogrify it
Into peace for all who want it?
You can.
Because you write.
The absolute power
Lives within a Poet.
There are some great ideals in this piece! I particularly like the second and fifth stanzas.
Karla, I can take the word "wonderful" and write it to you... I can take the word "friend" and put it with your name... I can take the expression "thank-you" and send it to you.
You honor us all with this... and you do it with cleverness, honesty and with a style that belongs uniquely to only YOU! I loved this one! katy xox.
Thank you for the Hurray! Your poems show your warm heart, and wisdom. Let's wield this power to upbuild, and not tear down. Our enemies on the outside, do enough of that! I bow to you, Honorable Poet!
Karla, I read this yestereday, but wanted to linger over the words, your words, Poet. I have a tingling inside my head from this piece, you've made me feel your 'Absolute Power' with gentleness, love and harmony. Thank you, my beautiful lady, for composing what will surely become a masterpiece for the ages. Hugs and best of life, and spiritualism, to you and yours.
Can you take a word
That once was ugly
And modify it
