Ancient child, lost in ennui, now resides
In human breast. Piercing age shows sorrow’s
Sad damage; memory lost, bequest denied.
Eon’s child realigns -- sets self aglow.

Unruly child, loosing shared perspective,
Clamors loud for sustenance; cries for more,
Sighs with dread, fearing time is relative.
Earthbound child redesigns -- then opens door.

Opaquing child, losing balance, weeps dry
Tears of sufferance. Chasing clouds of colored
Rainbows, tarries behind to question why.
Ebbing child, recombined -- again, implores.

Ancient child, counting epochs, waits for light
In solitude; seeking ways -- to ignite.

So profound, Erin. Just love this. It's so funny that we tend to think it will be our "adult" wisdom and learning that will lead to "enlightenment" - but it is the Ancient Child in us that is just waiting for true freedom and truth to bring us to the place of peace and fulfillment. Last two lines superb! It is no wonder that "heaven" is portrayed as being light, life and energy... like the atmosphere that surrounds children. TY Kate xx

"Ancient Child" Voices a profound message.

It gives me an image of a pilot that landed on a desert area. This pilot walks to an Oasis; he drinks from its water, and sleeps... The desert wind blows the sand over his aircraft. He wakes up in the morning and all he can see around are dunes, some as tall as mountains, all around is sand. “HAVE I LOST MY MEMORY”, – he questions – as he walks looking for his airplane.

This is a philosophical-historic surreal and symbolistical composition of poetic compliance in artistic expression.

Healthier be the eyes that may read this, "Ancient Child".

Are we not all ancient children, believing, if you will, in reincarnation, we have suffered through these lives before and may do so again...Ed
