For my young friend from Yates Centre...Jess

Vanity Adieu

His eyes sparkled with amusement

Absorbing unwarranted adoration

Surrounded by his school fan club

Providing useless inspiration

He flicks a strand a hair back

Checks his reflection in the glass

Watches his pretty accessory

Come strolling over the grass

Future prom king and queen they said

He smiles his Cheshire grin

Reaches out his arm to possess her

Forgetting vanities major sin

She stops short of his persona

Holds the ring of silver pure

Watched his look of amazement

She said ďI donít want you anymoreĒ

He canít believe itís happened

Someone snickers behind a hand

His fans begin to drift off

He holds the ring he thought so grand

Watches her slowly, proudly walk away

He wonders if it is for real

After all the hearts heís broken

He now knows how to feel.
