This is my attempt at writing a poem in Hindi/Urdu, I have also added my English translation, (it is literally a translation) but hopefully it will not lose too much appeal. A very dear friend read it over, and corrected several errors, (not many I promise you) lol thank you sincerely for your wonderful help.

Lady A, if you read this, it should answer the question you have asked a couple of times :)

If there are any who understand the Hindi/Urdu, your comments would be most welcome and appreciated.

Warm Hugs

Dil hai Tumhaara

Ek bechaini si hoti hai ab to tere naam se
Gale se laga lo ke tumhari beqaraar hoon main
Hum jaante hai aap ka dil beqaraar hein
Tujhko baahon mein le loongi main

Mere dil main pyaas hai
Kitne shole badan mein jalte hain
Ishq hua jab se na guzra ek lamha aaraam se
Duniya mein na koi tumse hai pyaara

Tera jaadu chal gaya
Kuch na phir chaaha sanam tumko chaahke
Ae sanam hum na honge judaa
Tum bin, jaaoon kahan

Chho lete ho taar jo dil ke
Meri duniya, mere sapne ab sajne lage
Teri baahon mein mera jahan
Tumko paaya to paayi zindagi

Seene se aake tune lagaaye
Saare dukhon ko pal mein mitaaya
Dil to dete hain aashiq sabhi
Jaan bhi tujhko de doongi main.

 My heart is Yours

A restlessness comes about upon hearing your name,
Embrace me, for I am restless for you,
I know that your heart is restless,
I will take you in my arms

In my heart is thirst,
So many flames have erupted in my body,
Since love happened, I have not spent one minute in peace
In the world, there is no one more adorable than you.

Your magic has been cast,
I have never wanted anything else beloved, after loving you
Oh sweetheart we will not separate,
without you, where would I go ?

You are reaching the musical instruments of my heart,
My world, my dreams have begun to be decorated,
In your arms is my world,
When I found you, I found life.

You came and held me to your chest,
You ended all my pains in one second,
All lovers give their hearts,
I will even give you my life !

I do not know Hindi words so I can only comment on the english version. Romance speaks clearly through this write and reminded me of a small book that I read about the heart door In other words, I loved it! :-)

Even in translation, there seems to be more of a heart-swelling, throbbing passion to words expressed in Eastern languages (?? does that make sense??!!)- than in standard English, somehow... perhaps it is because of the "unknown and unfamiliar" which adds to the romanticism. But you have composed here a beautiful and soul-stirring love poem in whatever language you seek to express it, Elga... it is lovely. TY Kate xx

Dear Debashish,

Thank you kindly for your wonderful comments, I know now who I will contact when I need some help, (trust you wont object). Considering that I do not speak Hindi at all, I feel that I have achieved what I had hoped. I am aware of the masculine and feminine as it is the same in Portuguese. Perhaps you would like to let me have the "different" poem :)

warm hugs

I like the spirit...It is not advisable to use an automatic translator to translate work...FIRST this language is not arabic it is HINDI...I like the English version...I like the flow and emotional upwelling in it! EXCELLENT work...even Hindi Version works well, but you know tranlitarian work doesn't always resemble the original poem...different languages have different delicacies, so you may end up with a completely different poem altogether..(which happened here in this case)...

Let me clarify, there are three words for "you" in Hindi, "tu" , "tum" and "aap" have misplaced them (in first stanza first line subject is so near you called him "Tere naam se" but in next line you say "tumhari"...which should be "tere liye" the first line itself "ab" doesn't have a counterpart in your English version...("ab" means "now")...There are some wrong spellings, I would require accents over letters like "e", "o" et al. to write a proper Hindi poem...

At last "Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai" is a popular Hindi movie...But the next line "Mujhe tumse dil se pyar hai, bahut, Sanam" should have been--
Mujhe tumse pyar hai, bahut, Sanam..

Enjoyed the work...

Happy boxing day...
