"Diwan" contains Mahdi's collected poetry between 1997-2004.

My mind's been sleeping rough

Ya 'uyuni

I' m after sunglow

You see

With crimson harbour melodies

Days fade in

Dance

And die

Every day

Is a day

Every land

Is a land

From Port Sudan to Dublin Port

Marseille to Port-aux-Prince

And there in the far

On my eyes' southernmost horizon

Dance the islands of pearls

And I say: Don't leave me now

Or are you already gone?

In the docks of Dublin

It is always

Harmattan

Under the breeze of Sudan's warm breath

I am always

In love

Kiss me now

Give this moment

A name

Tell me comforting lies

Tell me all

I want to hear

Give time a space

And a body

Skilfully kill me

Without

That I feel it
