Retarded

Boy I love taking care of Gus.
The truth is, nobody did say we were not supposed to have favorites.
Here is a man who is just the happiest person in the world,
Just to see me.
Here is the most grateful man in the world,
Just because I am doing my job.
I really have to ponder just what it means…
That he has such a low IQ.
He is the lone citizen of a beautiful world.
When I am with him, I get a brief visit to that world.
I’m reminded real quick on the way home that
This is NOT a beautiful world.
It is a world full of normal people…
People who honk and swear and flip me the bird
Just for trying to make it home in one piece.
And when I finally do make it home,
I breathe a sigh of relief,
And I remember to wish a very Merry Christmas
To my cat Molly…for Gus.

People like Gus sees the world in a different way. The world they live in is always beautiful.

A well-penned piece.

Happy Holidays to your and your family!
