To be able to look back upon one's past life with satisfication is to live twice. ~Marcus Valerius Martial

PERSPECTIVES AND OBJECTIVES

How critical is the address,

From which we each would  hail

Was it bought with thought to impress

Or was it just........on sale?

Did you buy a fixer-upper

Or was it a grand estate

Does the butler serve your supper

Or do you drive thru.....sit....then wait?

Do you wear designer labels

Perfume and jewelry

Have you satellite and cable

Do you drink generic tea

Is your car a current model

Is it waxed to brightest shine

Does your wallet make you waddle

Did you sign that dotted line

Is your mate the most attractive

A head turner supreme

Are you loved....or just inactive

Are you happier to dream

Do your children give you respect

Do you live to give advise

Do you feel the chill of neglect

Would a phone call be so nice

Did you try your very, very best

Where you true to your own heart

Did you cheat to pass on every test

Would you go back.....to start

Do you know what makes you happy

Down deep, inside your core

Are you satisfied and feeling free

Or do you yearn....for more

Did you ever get to Paris

Did you see the Taj Mahal

Is the fact your breathing.....JUST SWEET BLISS

Then friend....you have it all!!!!

A

Lady A, this is a wonderful journey through the fields of simplicity. Truly breathing is a wonderful gift knowing that we can still make a difference in the lives we touch. Excellent work. Thanks for sharing your many talents and wisdom.

Marvelous! And I love that Simpson music.

I gotta say the breathing thing still leaves me in a state of amazement...I can't believe that I survived so long. I definitely pushed the law of averages to the limit. several times. This is a wonderful write, Anita!
Take care,
Sherry

Neat twist, Anita! Until the last couplet, I was beginning to think I hadn't even got off the starting blocks - but then I KNOW for certain sure that I AM grateful for every living breath! You always pick the best quotes, too, which add to the rich flavour and "nourishment" of your writes. As usual, this one is a "stopper" and a "starter": makes you stop and think, and then to start to jaw-drop in admiration at the sage wisdom you dispense... you're a poetic apothecary, for sure! Now this one is very refreshing and as another songwriter wrote. "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got until it is gone?"
