I will never forget the beauty of the Canadian Arctic...

the edge of earth

frozen lands

hungry soul

where time stands

sounds of silence

arctic light

crow’s nest vigil

through the night

grinding steel hulls

polar beer’s growl

silver fox

hunter’s prowl

engines roar

turbines whine

ice gives way

passage time

where Franklin roamed

on Beechy Isle

lingered there

lonely mile

fresh food gone

books are rare

tempers short

no TV here

five long months

craving home

on our way

no more to roam

Felix, I could feel the artic chill as I read this. I kept expecting to have to move the snow to see the next word.
Awesome imagery Felix!

The will of the human spirit to endure and explore never ceases to surprise and excite me, Felix. Even apart from the chill - I am such a heat-seeking missile! - I am drawn into the stark images you paint in this "white-out" and can almost hear the creaking and grinding of ice and metal, and smell and taste the fuel of the turbines in that thin, razor-sharp air. TY for this fresh sight and sound. Kate xx

I've always thought the Arctic must be an amazing place. Your work brings it to life.

Sometimes I like to read something different in poems just to refresh me and I am glad that I read this one.
