Devil art by me, all my art is by me, like it, hate it, criticise it, whatever, I do it and stand behind it.
The same way I stand behind my writing. I'm displaying this devil image again because I don't really know what a devil looks like. But I do know this, I know what evil humans look like. Just like you and I and they slip up on you. I'd rather run into the devil himself rather than some of these human devils. Anyway this brings me to the title of my poem, "rock bottom," I've been there and everyone that helped my trip look just like you and I. I survived the bottom so excuse the hell out of my attitude. And another thing, we're into the year 2005, it's about time to dress the devil up like he really looks. If the devil looked like I portrayed him above, we'd know right away who we were dealing with. So you better check those human faces right beside and around you, they're the true faces of the devil.
Unless you've been down on the bottom,
you'll keep fooling around till you drop.
Allowing things like negativity,
and negative people to influence.
You'll also keep fooling around
with feeling bad and depression.
And you'll keep making excuses as to
why you won't do anything about your condition.
Once the fire hits your behind,
you'll find a cure for being blind.
Forever and a day,
you'll learn to keep the devil away.
People who drag you down,
you won't even want them around.
Conditions flaming reminder,
you'll try to escape to places kinder.
An attitude unstable,
will become an attitude more able.
As soon as down comes to show,
you'll pick youself up and go.
If you don't have a God growing,
you'll search for one flowing.
You'll do whatever it takes,
to keep yourself from old mistakes.
As the sun rises and sets,
you fight hard to avoid stupid regrets.
But maybe this is just in my world!

|So true...yet we have to deal with those little or big devils around us. 'Be careful whom you befriend' is excellent advice, as is 'pick yourself back up'...well told, G..
Happy New Year to you!

|That dog, the Devil, has nipped at all of our heels a few times, I am going to guess. I have been down so low that all I could do was laugh, or I would have drowned in my own tears. All I could think when I was looking up at the bottom of my world, was how this really isn't as horrible or as impossible as I thought it was going to be. That gave me the strength to pull myself back up into the light. Great write, Grady. I love your art too!

I think I can say that,
"To have really lived
is to have really fallen
and be able to stand up again."
My hubby and I had fallen many times, but each time we beat the devil and got back up again. Life is more rewarding this way. Don't despair.
Hope the year 2005 gives you plenty of good reasons to smile.
