ten years from now
i'll be staring into the eyes
of the one who could handle me
see through my disguise

the one who tried to cook for us
when i was ill
the one who came to the rescue
when there was a bug to kill

the one who squeezed my hand
when passing an ex
and smiled that sideways grin of
"yeah i'm getting _good_ sex."

the one who never let me
wonder where i stand
who gave without my having
to make a demand

the one who could take
all that i have to give
even the sadness of the days
when it was hard just to live

the one for whom nights
without me were hell
and successes without me
he rather would fail

in ten years together
there's much to go through
i can see that at this rate
that one won't be you
