Exorcism II

She smelled semen and shit in the air
Her parents sat in the living room down the hall
Their eyes black and frightened
Their thoughts feeding the flames of their sacred enemy, Satan
She sang "Three Blind Mice" in the shower
Dancing her own fears to whatever gods would accept them,
Her prayer to douse the human invention of that devil
Her song to lull this haunted family
Into a harmless trio of pitiful characters

The wine glass tips over
By the furious incanted Spirit
Given life in the other room
The singing spirit in the shower,
Hapless exorcist,
Listens for instructions from the water

She dries off, wipes the blood red wine from the wall
The purple towel means something
The white shirt she pulls on means something
The blue jeans mean something
She walks into the living room,
Showing to her parents two undamaged wrists

I really liked the first stanza, but was confused by the third. Could you explain the last part? I wanna know, because it was an intriguing poem. --Joe
