Home Town Memories

Inspired by Mr Kostro's jaunt to his old neighborhood...

Home Town Memories…

From childhood I remember,

The old homes we used to play in,

The hotels from days past,

The churches that did not last…

The Pennsylvania hotel,

Now a condominium stands,

Did the old place have more class?

Well, through several storms and hurricanes it did last…

The old movie theatre over the waves,

Sitting in it you could feel it shake,

The pilings that supported it creaking,

The ocean waves breaking underneath,

Would silence those on the screen speaking…

The Colonnade a place to play did we,

Now an expensive and classy B&B,

The house behind it gone for a parking lot,

I remember who lived in it, now gone for someplace hot…

The old Esso/Exxon station, torn down, now a realty,

My old home up the street on the beach front,

Gone to become an ugly condominium,

A town to live in like good old Sea Isle I still do hunt…

I agree with Lori. Now all you have to do is read this poem backwards and that Exxon station will be standing again in no time.

Glad my post inspired you, my friend.

This is very good, although very sad. These nostalgic trips down memory lane truly make me truly long - for the good old days - when life was truly much different.

YOur images are very clear and extremely well written. I feel like I am standing beside you while you describe this time in your life and how it is looking now. Great write.
