~ An Unfinished Woman ~

am I a three-dimensional diffraction
a hologram, that people view

I wear the face's they expect to see
the ones they're comfortable with
Faces of daughter, wife, mother and friend
changing them like hats from an old hall tree

they look through me without a clue
never questioning
it is reality or merely a sham

Taking at face value what they see
as if by doing more
encroaches upon their personal space
diminishing their own tiny worlds
They never look beyond my face

when will someone care enough to see
what mysteries are hiding inside of me

Who will ask what's in my heart
uncover the passions that I hold
Listen to the poetry of my soul
or my dreams yet untold

a mirror image I will no longer be
wearing faces I used by need

Time and space, I now have
to explore feelings I tucked away
Were they just a place to escape
when obligations got in the way

Years and layers have covered them deep
I must peel them back one at a time
and finally reveal

an unfinished woman

I can truly relate to this one. The blindness of people seeing only of the surface
Lone time and I love what lies below the layers of the mask! IT is totally Awesome Warm Loving and So Unique in all so many ways. Very Much so Yes That you Truly Are.

Very nice, Carole. I remember stepping out on my front porch many years ago and consciously putting on my smile. I vowed that day I'd never do that again, and have tried my best to show the world who I really am since that day. I hope this beautiful piece of work encourages others to do the same.
