for those little ones denied their chance

I Wonder
I wonder who you might have been,
If you’d have had the chance.
If your life had somehow started,
By some different circumstance.
Would you have made a difference?
To this world in which we live.
I wonder what you could have offered.
I wonder what you had to give.
Might you have been a poet,
That could spin words into gold?
I wonder what you might have said.
Or what has gone untold.
Might you have been the one,
To rid us of our modern plagues?
The one to find the cure for cancer.
The one to rid the world of aids.
Might you have had the wisdom,
That could bring this world to peace.
A world with hatred far behind us.
A world where war, would finally cease.
How good it might have been,
If the world had known your worth.
Had you had the chance to live,
And had not been denied your birth.
Perhaps things would be different,
If we could all see in advance.
The many things you may have done,
If you had only had the chance.

| A humbling and overwhelmingly gentle plea, Jack. Only a very hard heart would not be moved by your verses here. The rhyme and the splendid meter make this a joy to read and thoughts within will linger. It's a poem that matters! katy xox. |

As sad as the death of a child is, Jack, the impact that they make upon us in their death is so strong. We hold on to them forever. Their innocence rings like a bell in our heart and soul always. Even if we never knew them, they touch our lives. This is not only a beautiful poem, Jack, but it gives the reader so much to think on after the read.
