Not to state the obvious, but I have a lot of teacher in me. Some say preacher. Dark side comes from Edgar Allen Poe, I have maintained since an aunt on my father's side informed me of a distant relationship. Back awhile, yes. Not t h a t old. ;)
Hope I haven't posted this prematurely.
Think so, don't hesitate to say.
Bless you for being here. Pea <3

A Book, a Comb, a Hand, a Heart

Some would put the blame on Eli Whitney
for drumming for interchangeable parts.
There is a ghost rolling from fear and pity
for those putting prices on minds, souls and hearts.

Step #1: freeze to extend what is called life.
Two: manufacture victims by pushing  Greed.
Three: hype them into thinking hooked is divine.
(Greed doesn’t work, manipulate Need.)

How have we come to believe we’re machines?
Blame it on Big Business for sowing and reaping?
Who wants ever ticktackier Things-Things-Things?
Shame on them for buying themselves while we are sleeping.

Q: Should we demand Things that command respect,
being made for good purpose and with loving care?
Might we become more by going for less,
and, yes, Eli, by being open to Share-Share-Share?

We make the machines, lest we forget.
Though not objects, create/are created from the same atoms.
Clocks may be robots, but Time has muscles it can flex.
Add Humane, let rest, then stir.  (Goes back to Eve and Adam.)

Many Americans are blessed with antibiotics and central air.
Improved homes and diets and (some say) appearance.
To spread the bounty only seems fair.
Let’s run a kazillion-for-one sale, call it Clearance.

Forget going back to the Old Days. Give us a break.
Cures are on board, and pain relief.   Small comforts abound.
For SOME.   Maybe we should listen as we pray?
Hear that consuming all our selves [sic] will never be sound?

Sorry the poet is unequal to all important issues.
Trying to say Look at what we have, who/what we are.
New step: fit our friend Greed with concrete shoes. (Capiche?).
Past time to Make [with & for] Love, not [guarantee] War,

I thank you for this thought provoking poem! It is really good for the times we live in now. Yes a great time to be rich, if you are. I certainly ain't! lol...don't let money stop you from living and smiling. The rich aren't really that much happier than we are!

Just go outside and smell the roses and say thank you for today!

thanks for your review also!

You know I have not heard the name Eli Whitney mentioned since I was in highschool and just the other day I remembered these things.
