Beware the Winds of Doctrine
by Henry Miranda

A Christian should be grounded and rooted in the word of God, if not, he is prone to be dispersed or destroyed by the winds of doctrine..

And the Water

In the sun,
the river is hypnotic;
silver glistens on lips of tiny waves.
The swamp maples wave
with the water,
manicured grass moves, too.

And it is so easy to be subdued
by bluejays, the warmth
of the new patio chairs.
It is so easy to underestimate
the power of the water.

War water, for example, absorbs terrible secrets
which drown with it's casualities.
Our Dad may have seen
his sailor friends' final looks;
the surprize overtaking their faces,
believing, as we all do,
death happens to others.

And the water
like a favorite quilt
wraps the drowner
in seemingly gentle
threads of comfort, but
indifferent, indestructable
with the precise nonchalance
of a fisher's net.
