“Try it, it can help,” she said,
as I nearly wept; as I
felt my mind slipping, again.
I couldn’t decide, but I took the stash;
small yellow pills with purported magic inside.

Valium Valhalla soothes my tensions,
releases my rejections, smoothes
self-proscribed head trips, reality trips,
and trips to the dark side of the moon.

Valium Valhalla flies within,
where dreams sink into bubble gum puddles,
sticky and sweet; round, though,
like a pink yellow sun, a ray of sun,
a ray of ego, a tomb of hope,
where today’s self-thought heroes go
to die and fledge their silly words.

Valium Valhalla, home of cowards,
and poets.

"Valium Valhalla"
The imagery here is up to date. A chemical “Peaceful time” – or a feeling – spiritual illusion. VALIUM: Tranquilizer. VALHALLA, same as ELYSIUM: Peaceful and Beautiful place in heavens.

Stimulating reading from a symbolic writing of poetic magnificence.

I have only had Valium twice. Once after I had seizures during a myelogram (10 mgs. IV)--I was out for four days. Once as a sedative during dental surgery. I was out for two days. NO MORE VALIUM FOR ME! I want those days back. :(

However, with this pinched nerve in me neck...I could use a dose right now LOL

I love the honesty and reality in this write--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

And how many poets used opium, or peanut butter, or in my case, peanut butter cookies to get motivated? Many, I'm sure. (Just avoid the crunchy hard stuff!).

Not I. I can't conceive anyone writing ANYTHING coherently. Good luck getting off of that garbage if you haven't already.

For me it was Paxil as Valium did not touch me. But then I was always strange like that.
