A Place I Miss
By Josh Jenks

I used to sit out under the old oak tree,
An assortment of acorns litter the ground,
Totally oblivious to misery.

Large black carpenter ants would scurry about-
A shower of rain would cause a many pound.
Theyd fall off leaves into the stream -- Ate by trout.

A single crayfish looks up at me through glass-
One of his front claws fallen off with age.
Everything is fine until up comes a Bass.

Is it self-genocide I do witness?
Life feeds on life to fill up its own gauge...
But perhaps its best is careless-
Im watching its mistakes -- Forgetting my own.

I adore this and the way I can see almost level with what you're expressing. The world is full of wonders, questions, possibilities, and mysteries that I'm constantly pondering--and I couldn't have said it better than you said it.
