A Verse for Ann

This poem was written for a dear and precious friend, Ann Reynolds. Ann is a truly gifted gospel singer. Her beautiful voice seems to reach for the heavens, so I tell her she is an Ann-gel.

With exquisitely delicate white wings,

She rises up above all grounded things,

To serenely glide at exalted and lofty heights

In magnificent and breathtaking flight.

From what everyone grounded sees,

It appears she soars with such ease.

Flying is something they cannot understand;

It took faith in God and resolve to leave the land.

She left below all the security she had known,

From her birth and everyday until she was grown.

Grounded people scoffed that she’d never fly,

And if she tried, she’d surely fall from the sky.

But, God sent His angels to teach her how to soar,

High, high above the turmoil of the earthly floor.

So through blue skies and clouds she now flows,

Above the envy and jealousy of grounded foes.

The Sun’s rays reflect on her crystalline wings

While she rises above all those grounded things.

This is such a beautiful tribute. God does give you wings to fly. You just have to have the faith to believe that.
