Had To.

Why did I break up with you?
Could there have been better sex?
No.
Is there someone else?
No.
Did I meet someone my own age?
No.
Do I think I’ll ever find
More romance than I had with you?
No.
With you it was the best.

So what in God’s name
Could ruin us?

Well, we sat at night
In your beautiful foyer
Looking at Christmas lights…
All around us…
Except on the house next door,
For sale.

You said,
Without a clue what it would do to us,
You don’t want blacks moving in.
Guess you forgot I’m a jazzman.
