as the case may be

when colliers unload
to coaling town docks and
piggies seek truffles
in the stratocumuli
then shall poetry cease
and poets take to
prevarication or to
truth-speaking as the case,
(such as it is) may,
or may not, be.

then shall lovers despair
and couple no more,
and horrid little insects,
hominids of business
and the law, have freedom
to sully and to sell,
to litigate and to corrupt --
rejoicing in their hollow victroi
over the human spirit

till then lovers must couple
and poets must tell their Truth,
and peddle their lies, to hold
the sky aloft and to keep the faith
strong that that spirit, chaotic,
untiddy, inefficient, effective spirit,
may flourish

Hang in, John... you made the decision to be here in this time... as far as I can tell from scanning your titles and blurbs (will read, promise), you know what's happening. Keep telling. I just stay in my own Now, ignoring as the case may be, the lies, the old Illusions that are fast fading. When it seems to overwhelm, I just write a story or a poem... it helps the balance.

Now this is so different and eye opening but it is also likeable in that it is different.
