thank you for saving me
the trouble like that one time
when because of that one guy
i lay stinking and bleeding
and asking myself why

no this is nowhere near a pain like that
and this won't cost me my favorite hat

no blood up the back of my shirt
no reason to be hurt

for two minutes
i can tolerate anything
just a moment of whatever life can bring

i can lose blood
i can take a beating
i can try to make love to you

thank you for giving me
the enzymes i needed for my sanity
and thank you
for showing me i still know how to cuss
to break down a wuss

thank you for the tears i cried
for the things i tried
to give you that you misused
the faith you abused
the friendship you crushed
into dust
and the lesson in just
how precious is trust

for two minutes of being sure
that you were my cure for lonely nights
i thank you

you gave more than you took
no matter how it looks

for two minutes
i can tolerate anything
just bring it on and i'll still laugh and sing

i can lose you
and resist your bleating
i can silence my love for you

before i bled for you
before i bred with you
you tore it all down
you let it all drown

before i spent for you
before i bent for you
you had the grace
to know your place
as a thing of disgrace
to the human race

and since i don't to beastiality
i knew i had to get you away from me
you had me fooled for awhile
but i was never a child
so hope could only carry me so far

and now you have my gratitude
for being such a rude
bastard

may you find someone who deserves you
but since you're weaker than me it might kill you

for two minutes
i can tolerate anything
anything

even two minutes can be a gift. the poignancy of those taking time to do the smallest thing makes the biggest difference. powerful write.

Awesome. It is true spiritual growth, to thank someone for the pain inflicted. It is wonderful to find something good, in something so bad...

This is very powerful and your words say a lot about abuse.
