Two Sides of a Single Coin

"The tissue is very fragile where / Our hearts are held in each other's hands / Rare is the mortal who understands / Where two are one both love and hate lie there"

Transcendental Sonnet #1265:

Two Sides of a Single Coin

Love and Hate

Angels above and devils below

See what mortals always learn too late

They have always known will always know

How fine the line between love and hate

How thin the tissue which comes between

Hate which is and love which might have been

Two sides of a single coin they see

While all our life is consumed by one

At a time between us you and me

Husband and wife or love just begun

The tissue is very fragile where

Our hearts are held in each other's hands

Rare is the mortal who understands

Where two are one both love and hate lie there

Yes he did do a beautiful job on this one.

You have done an excellent job on this, Steven. There is never an action without an equal and opposite reaction, and so it is with the energy of we humans, as well. I think of it more as love/fear than love/hate, but either way, it is a thin, thin line between. Very nice write.
Take care,
Sherry

Yin/Yang... love/hate... thank god black and white are separated by every other color in the spectrum! (smile) Steven, you have that rare gift that compels a reader to read once, soaking in the thoughts... and then a second time, just to treat the mind to such delicious phrasings.

Though my poetry leans toward the humorous and absurd, I am first a poet and your piece will linger, indeed. Lovely. katy xox.

Stay single, you are much better off with a one sided coin...Ed

Marriage is a two sided coin, living as one.
We learn to accept each other's differences.

You are so precise.
