The castle in my dreams stands. It is a place I visit. Perhaps the eagle is my muse

She said goodbye that day
He didn't say a word
The symbolic eagle
lost from sight
What pain he hath endured!
Why did their paths converge
when castle walls were scaled?
What happened
to their view of love?
Has every dream now paled?
Surrounded by the darkness
the castle walls her keep,
a turret room the lookout
granting vision in her sleep
In love she made a choice
the hardest one to make
to cling to dreams is easy
She made the choice to wake…

The atmosphere, alone, lured me in, willingly. The meter and rhyme floats, made me sigh audibly. To write the human condition, accessibly, yet so poetically, is a gift. We wish to draw a reader in with theme, so she can relate, yet express in a way that will linger. For me, you have done this with beauty and with honesty. I gasped, reading those last two lines. This is an exquisite piece. katy xox.

Love like your poem can be a process of learning the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. You covered this really well.

To wake from the dream is almost too much to bear,

This is such a sad poem, with a beauty that truly hurts. Just remember, to choose to wake is not the final choice you'll have to make; but ask yourself why and when you believe you'll dream again.

My sentiments are much akin to Elga's...seems we both see the
same brilliance in your lines, Chanti.
"Waking" can be wonderful at times, but it depends on the sight
we behold when we finally open our eyes.

"In love she made a choice

There is so much meaning in these verses but the entire poetic creation is captivating in a surreal way (to me, anyhow). Thank you, Chanti. Love. Regis

Dearest Chants,

I don't often comment on your poetry, but this one, the more I read, the more the tears welled, and felt choked with such emotion. It is excellent in its entirety, but girl, your last four lines, speak volumes:

In love she made a choice
the hardest one to make
to cling to dreams is easy
She made the choice to wake… ----> some of us don't have the courage to wake :(

God Bless Chants
Much love
