Dedicated to the memory of my beloved PussCat, who was a constant source of delight...

Purring while preening

a coat soft as mink,

painted ebony, camel,

pewter and white.

His breath becomes shallow

as sleep time draws near.

Eyes emerald green

shine like sultry lagoons,

until heavy lids hide them from view.

Small paws knead bread

from warm flannel sheets,

as a drowsy mind wanders

to naptime,

to dreamland,

to the uncharted wilds,

where cats are still known

as King of the Beasts.

In those few perfectly-chosen words, you have given us the essence of cat-character: PussCat's perfect portrait. What a charming 'Small paws knead bread' image! This poem is a true delight.

Well, Michelle, I have heard that dogs have masters but cats have servants. Looking at your sweet kitty, I am going to have to agree with that statement. I love cats; mostly because they are who they are and no one or nothing is ever going to change that. They are happy and comfortable with who they are. They are independent and they are loving, and if you don't treat them right, they will find someone else who will. These are traits I look for in all of my partners. Very nice write and a wonderful tribute to your kitty.
Take care,
Sherry

What an adorable cat this is! Oh yes, they DO rule, like a king they do...

Mine makes me feed him by hand. I have to put his food (hard food) in my palm, and he eats it from there. Heeeheee! he's spoiled rotten already.
