Just a quick poem before I call it a night, unless my muse decided to waken me tonight...

A disabled child is first a child...

I feel what you feel

Laughter and tears

I expreince them all.

My disability does not stop me

From knowing what's going on around me

I hear the laughter,

See the way people back away from me

I am only a kid

A kid who wants to make friends,

Can't you understand that?

My legs may not work like your's

My learning may be slower

My sight may be little or maybe

I can't see at all

But that does not stop me

From understanding

Why I don't have friends come over

When will parents understand

A child can not "catch a disability"

And I am a child first

When will you understand that?

Listen to me Please

I only want you to hear me

I am a child first

Don't treat me as if

I am damaged goods...
