Love walks a fine line--too much or too little can destroy a relationship.

I love you’ lingers on your lips
as they slip from a sweet kiss.
Love, too much, will suffocate me—
imprisoned thus … is misery.
Not enough … longing, one wanders
and then love becomes history.
Give … enough … to nourish, flourish …
just enough … that both souls are free.
Love, butterfly, flies and needs air;
held too tightly it dies then, there.
Love me, darling, just … enough.

Tease me sweetly … tenderly do
know that I am in love with you.
Love, too rough, humiliates me …
reveals … we’ve no equality.
Sincere love doesn’t have to hurt …
it should be precious, quality.
Even unspoken it should show …
we’re cherished … for infinity.
Love should boomerang when set free
if such love’s truly meant to be.
Love me, darling, just … enough.

You’re faults are many but I’m blind.
Don’t you think you should see in kind?
Love changes remarkably--
still retains sexuality.
Dehydrated … love blows astray
in dark harshness, reality.
All those little things roll up, ache--
nothing is triviality.
In my heart you’ll live and thrive, dear …
e’en when you're no longer live here.
Love you, darling, just … enough.

Beautiful write. Love is patient and kind. It is forgiving and blind only to those it shadows.

To me, Sandy; there are so many kinds of "love." I know the best kind is unconditional love. Love is so different for me depending on the person, the situation. I could be way off base but that's the way it is with me. Right now, there is only one person in my life whom I can love as a "lover." It does not mean that I don't love a lot of others including my children, my friends etc... But it's not the same. A poem that made me think and react. Thank you. Love and peace. Regis
