So we die.

You left me far behind,
In the dark beyond your reach,
Where I was supposed to be,
In the shadows beyond the reef,

And now the sea,
Holds nothing more for me,
Then painful memories,
Of how life used to beÖ

And I broke through,
I burned and I froze for you,
I laughed and I cried for you,
I lived and I died for you,

Waiting to come back to me.

And all the love I gave,
Just got washed away,
Giving another day,
And I just have to be brave,

Without you.

So Iíve reached the end,
Giving up my bartering friend,
But for now just let me send,
One last kiss to him,

Fading from the moonlit shore.

And Iím lost at sea,
Expect nothing more from me,
Donít walk the shores and grieve,
Cause now I have to leave

Time has passed for me.

This poem reminded me of a love once lost, the imagery and sentiment expressed is beautiful & heartfelt, it's pure & honest...Lost At Sea connects...with a sad but powerful finality...very well done!

such a sad, sad evocation of an eternal love.

A very unique way of putting it about a love gone wrong and the last stanza is very powerful.

Style AND content. This is a poem worthy of being called great. You carried us down the slippery slope of a failed romance, giving us little tidbits of how it was felt, the futility of it all, until at the end, there was no more tears, cries of abandonment, flailing of the breasts, it was just . . . over. This one is a cut above.

The style in which you wrote this with the intermittent single lines is highly effective. It brings the message closer.

I enjoyed both the content and the style. Nicely done.
