Three days ago a BBC journalist and producer, Kate Peyton was killed in Mogadishu by unknown gunmen. That killer has crashed our hearts, he has crashed our hopes. He just wanted to tell the world that Mogadishu was no place to accomodate the new government which was instituted in Nairobi late last year. There are those who say MogadisHu is ready for a government. There is peace, there is stability. There are those others who say we need troop intervention from the African Union before government is relocated to Mogadishu as no one can guarantee their security. I dedicated this poem to Kate Peyton who,in my hasty and rather superficial assessment, has gone in the hands of those who wanted to prove that Mogadishu was not safe. I stoppd posting poems at least for the time being but there are situations when pain is too painful to be ignored.

COME LITTLE BOY. COME HERE PLEASE
COME TELL ME WHY YOU KILLED THE BIRD
DID YOU KILL FOR FUN OR FOR A REASON
WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE UNDEAR LITTLE BOY
INVITE TROUBLE? BRING CHAOS? OR WHAT?
I KNOW SOMEONE SAID THERE PEACE IN HERE
TO SAY IT IS UNSAFE DO YOU HAVE TO KILL?
A WHISTLE IS ENOUGH TO SCARE A BIRD
YOU DON'T NEED TO USE AN ARROW, DO YOU?
OF ALL THE BIRDS WHY KILL A DOVE
SHE CAME TO HELP AND EXPOSE TRUTH
SHE CAME NOT TO HARM. NEVER.
YOU SHOT PEACE IN THE BACK, LITTLE BOY
YOUR ACTION CALLS FOR UNCLE SAM TO COME
YOU HAVE A WISH TO SEE HIM IN OUR SOIL
BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN
AFRICAN UNION KNOWS US WELL
THEY KNOW WHO IS OUR FRIEND
THEY KNOW WHO IS OUR FOE?

a sad situation and an unfortunate event ... if only the killing would cease, your country could become safe again and on the road to recovery ...

abdi,

it's sad that the children
learn from the strife
and hold dear what they perceive
as strength without malice of forethought

our prayers are with you

thanks,

I'm glad you shared this heartbreaking news Abdi Noor.
I hope he is caught and dealt with and that your voice helps others to be aware of the ones like him that try to disrupt the peace your new government is trying to establish! Blessings to you!I keep it all in prayer! etw

Dear Brother Abdi-Noor yours is a voice of sanity in an insane world.
We feel your pain as you often speak truth to power and wonder how long evil minded men will be allowed to pollute our planet. Stay strong Abdi-Noor our world needs more like you. Peace and blessings are wished for your and yours. < Mikii>

Abdi-noor,

A beautiful, moving tribute. There are those who would not like to see advancement of peace. Through your words, there is always hope. I agree with Judy: the actions of one do not speak for the majority. Keep writing, keep praying for peace. You are not alone.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

This is a wonderful tribute and I winced when she was killed. There are those in our country that do write hateful things but do I want them killed no. She seemed to be a person that cared deeply about her mission. I however do not hold the actions of one against the peoples of a city. You are proof of that. Take care.

Wonderful tribute. Above that, this piece asks the "why" that needs to be asked. Why so some hate the idea of a free governemt? What do they fear? With them is the background, can their ever be peace? Nice write.
